Calahonda (Granada, España)

Calahonda es un pequeño pueblo pesquero cerca de Motril con una bonita playa situada en el centro del Cabo Sacratif. Tiene fama de ser una de las playas más limpias de la Costa Tropical de Granada. Se encuentra aproximadamente a 12 kilómetros de Motril. 

De las cosas que nos podemos encontrar dentro del pueblo de interés turístico son una torre inclinada conocida como “el Farillo” y la cueva bigote.

En la localidad se pueden practicar multitud de deportes, tanto acuáticos como terrestres. En la carretera que une Calahonda con la playa de La Chucha puedes hacer footing, pasear en bicicleta... Entre los deportes acuáticos, se distinguen la natación, el piragüismo, esquí acuático, body surf, pesca, buceo.

Las fiestas del pueblo son dignas de mencionar. Se celebran en honor a la Virgen del Carmen (patrona del mar) y San Joaquín,y se festejan la primera semana de agosto. Programan una gran variedad de actividades para todas las edades en las que pueden participar tanto los paisanos como los turistas. Tienen además un evento que las distiguen del resto de festejos de la comarca, son unos espectaculares fuegos artificiales en el mar. 

Calahonda is a small fishing village near Motril with a nice beach in the center of Cape Sacratif. It is famous for having one of the cleanest beaches on the Costa Tropical of Granada. It is approximately 12 kilometers from Motril.

 

There are a lot of interesting things  that we can find such as the slanting tower known as "the Farillo" and mustache cave.

 

In the locality you can practise many sports, both aquatic and terrestrial. In the road that comunicates the beach of La Chucha and Calahonda  you can do jogging, cycling and have a nice walk under the sun.  Besides you can try water sports such as, swimming, canoeing, water skiing, body surfing, fishing, diving  which are very famous in the tourist village.

 

The celebrations of the town are worth mentioning, for example the one in honor of the Virgen del Carmen (patron saint of the sea) and San Joaquin, which is held the first week of August. You can find a wide range of activities for all ages in which both citizens  and tourists can take part. What the differeciate them from the rest of the comarca festivities are the spectacular fireworks at sea.
